big kids helping little kids
Made for Kindness
YouthGrace is growing. It is our youth initiative of Big Kids Helping Little Kids. Our goal is to encourage high schoolers to be others-centered. Students receive community service hours in return for mentoring a lonely child in an elementary school. If you'd like to become a YouthGrace mentor, check to see if your school is listed.
WHy BE A Mentor?
This program was really life changing for me because when I was a kid I didn't have anyone to look up to. And to see my child Landon, every week he would run up to me and say "Simon!" (gestures big hug) which he really makes you go "wow." We really have fun with these children and get to see how they change, too.

I got kicked out of preschool, I was that bad kid. I can see myself in a lot of these kids. Through YouthGrace I got to learn more about myself through them. I could see myself as a kid. I was a big rascal like they were. But they were a lot of fun to be with. I had fun with this program.

This experience really opened up a lot of things for me. Before this I was kind of shy and didn't want to open up to people. Because of the program I got to open up and show more of who I am.
