LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Hello all,
COVID-19 is an evolving global and statewide issue. At Mālama Mentors, we take our mentors, kids, champions, and staff’s health and safety seriously.
Look out for updates through our website, social media and emails to keep everyone informed on the COVID-19 situation and how it is affecting our students. We will continue to follow the guidance of our local health departments and the DOE to make sure we do our part to keep everyone in our program safe.
As of March 18th: Public schools will be postponed till April 7th 2020.
Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Mālama Mentors will be implementing ways to allow mentors and kids to stay connected from the safety of their own homes.
We will be contacting parents of the students in our program (mentors and mentees) and give them the option for their children to continue mentoring in any, some, or all of the following ways:
Starting on March 30th, these special mentoring sessions will occur once a week, with at least 10 minutes of conversation. To make things as easy as possible, we will be sending out resources to mentors that will help them with their conversations with their kids. Parents are welcome to join in on these special types of communication to provide guidance and support.
During this uncertain time, communication and safety will be our highest priority. We need mentoring more than ever! Let's continue connection with Grace!
Thanks,
Micah Ganiron
